Katell Le Jeune was born in 1981 in La Seyne-sur-Mer, France, the daughter of a sailor father and a designer mother. After studying applied arts in Nantes and gaining a merchant navy diploma, she set sail for the West Indies to live out her sun-drenched dreams, following in the footsteps of Sophie Ladame, Titouan Lamazou and other travelling artists.
Her painting was born there. Stimulated by the graphic and colorful force of tropical nature. Her work develops in a maritime universe and is enriched by other explorations.
Poetic testimonies, tributes to nature, Katell navigates freely between figuration and abstraction, her expression defining her own language with each series. She mainly paints with a knife on canvas, using acrylics. Color is clearly the main element in her work.
